A tropical wave near Africa has been given a high chance to develop into a tropical depression or storm within the next day or two.
The next named storm will be Isaac.
Models indicate it will aim west across the Atlantic over the next five days. Whether it might pose a threat to land, too soon to say.
At 8 p.m. on Saturday, the system was in the eastern Atlantic about 550 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands, moving west at about 20 mph.
The National Hurricane Center said it is showing signs of organization.
Meanwhile, Gordon intensified into the third hurricane of the season on Saturday. It's expected to bring wind and rain to the Azores on Sunday.
On Saturday evening, Gordon was 525 miles southwest of the Azores, racing east at 21 mph with sustained winds of 110 mph - just shy of Category 3 status.
Tropical Storm Helene, which formed in the southern Gulf of Mexico on Friday, is now a depression over Mexico.
