Tackle Your Workout with These Xbox Kinect Games - Anytime Health

For fitness fanatics

Your Shape? Fitness Evolved 2012 - This game is a fun fitness program that you can customize to your liking. When I first played the game, I enjoyed trying out all the different exercises and games. You can do aerobics, bootcamp, cardio boxing, and yoga. You can also do pushups, crunches, and other body weight strength exercises!

"Choose exercises targeting specific muscle groups, such as abs, arms, legs, back, glutes and more. And create your routine around your busy schedule."

I think my favorite part is the fact that you can customize your own workouts. It's awesome getting all the necessary components for fitness in one game: cardio, strength, and flexibility! This game will also count calories burned for you, which is a favorite feature of mine as I dislike math!

Calorie burn: avg. ~270 / hour [but it really depends on your customized workout]

Other contenders: UFC Personal Trainer, Zumba Fitness: Rush

For the dance buffs

Dance Central - I won't deny it, I love to dance. And if you are looking for a way to get your workout in, without it feeling like a "workout," this is the game for you! Dance Central currently has two versions of the game out in the market.

"Featuring the authentic choreography Dance Central is known for, you'll learn favorite dance crazes from the past and master the hottest moves of today.

A new version of the game will be coming out in October, for those of you (like me) who are looking for new moves and music! The coolest thing about dance central's calorie counter is the faster you move, the faster the calorie counter moves up.

Calorie burn: ~250 / hour

Other contenders: Just Dance, Michael Jackson Experience

For the whole family

Kinect Sports - In my family, competition is taken to a whole different level, especially when we play Kinect Sports. This game is perfect for your family workout because it can get everyone involved! With the multiplayer functionality in the game, players can take part in eight sport-based mini games, or join in the Party Play mode designed to accommodate a larger number of players amassed in the same room, divided into two teams. Compete in bowling or boxing, track and field or soccer to really get the calorie burn going.

Like Dance Central, a new version of the game is coming out in October that will feature new games like football, baseball, and tennis.

Calorie burn: ~200 / hour

*Other contenders: Kung Fu Panda 2, Twister Mania

For the early adopters

Nike+ Kinect Training - Not even out on the market yet, Nike+ Kinect Training looks to be one of those games that every early fitness adopter will have to buy and try out.

"Whatever your level, whatever your goal, with Nike+ Kinect Training you can now experience personal training, at home. Using real time feedback and elite level coaching, Nike+ Kinect Training delivers a personalized program that evolves as you do."

It hits stores "Holiday season 2012," so if you want it make sure it's on your Holiday wishlist!

Calorie burn: unknown

Note: Calorie burns are based on 175 pound male.
